    Surajit, This is a subject close to my heart. I call it the Google Advantage. Having a Google Places listing is the closest to a guarantee for a Page 1 position. The Places websites are free and mobile optimized. At the moment there is a shortage of Local Businesses for Google to show the searcher and they fall back on directories. Would you believe there are only two Hairdressers listed in Halifax NS. There are over 1,000 local searches for hair salon as well. Would it be a good idea to be shown to these searchers???

    Google set up a vast number of these websites from details in directories and amazingly there are some 49,844,000 unclaimed Places websites.

    Even for national and international Businesses they need to have a local presence. Even as recently as the last few days Google has added more impact to a Places listing by displaying them as the same size as organic results. Even more reason to get a Google Places listing.
